Plateaus...are tough
I've hit a plateau! As hard as I've been trying my weight hasn't budged in two weeks. I've been eating great healthy foods and, exercising like a demon yet, the needle hasn't moved. I almost purchased a weight loss supplement but, I realized that Dexetrim isn't the answer. I know the answer yet, it can prove to be extremely elusive.

Boot Camp
This morning I started Boot Camp which is an intense full body workout. All I can say is my body aches ALL over. I also received some great news from the trainer my BMI is within range of what I'll need to complete the TC Marathom. Yesterday at work my supervisor had surprise ice cream sundaes which was a great morale booster. I found myself caught in the middle of eating some and saying no. I ended up say no and instead laughed and talked to two of my good friends. I am now down 27 pounds as my journey continues...

What... no ipod....?!?
This week has been terrific training wise. My large body is really starting to show signs that the plan is working. Tonight I played a round of golf and then, went to the gym to pay my "dues". As I was listening to my ipod it dawned on that during the TC Marathon I won't be allowed to listen to my beloved training tool. Tonight as I listened to D'Angelo, The Lyricist Lounge, Walter Hawkins and Karl Orff it gave me absolute comfort and it empowerd me to push on. Not having music will be tough but, I've already been told by many folks that they'll be running part of the marathon with me which IS music to my ears. the excitement continues to build.

Ed
LAst night at the gym I ran into my friend Ed. He'd in training for Grandma's half marathon. He looks great! We talked for awhile before and he said he's also going to run in the TC marathon. We had a great discussion about what we're doing to control our caloric intake. I'm using an app on my phone called 'My fitness Pal' to help me track my calories (it is terrific) Ed is using Weight Watchers. This morning my body was craving an Egg Mcmuffin instead i had a Weight watchers egg sandwich an saved 290 calories! I find myself creating foods combinations that are both tasty and satisfying. Being creative is sometimes frustrating yet, rewarding when you find something that works.

The psyche of running
As I finished mile 4 at the gym yesterday I realized that in the TC marathon I will need to run 22.6 miles more to finish! My mind began questioning and tried to make up an excuse to give up on my quest. I actually began laughing and crying at the same time as I realized that 1. this will happen and 2. I love how crazy this whole endeavor is. Over dinner last evening I was given a great piece of advice from one of our guests: "You can certainly sit on your couch and, formulate EVERY excuse why you can't or you can get up and go do it." Great advice. I plan to begin training 2x per day 4x per week starting tomorrow as I know an early workout will give my metabolism a good swift kick in the pants. I love the daily chess match I'm playing. the equation is simple though: cross the finish line, CHECKMATE......

Question: How do you eat an elephant?
Answer: one bite at a time. Terrible joke? YES! I use this joke because it illustrates that nothing can be accomplished overnight. I was a groomsman in a friends wedding today and when I told one of the fellow wedding participants what will happen on 10/2 he very smuggly replied: "Is this a dream or will it ACTUALLY happen?" It dawned on me at that very moment that there are people who think a man my size has NO business thinking about and certainly, definitely not attempting something crazy like this.
Don't get it twisted, this IS going to happen! I will use that comment and, others like it to propel across the finish line. My two students deserve my best effort and will get it.
Everyday I workout, everyday I eat right, drink plenty of water, get plenty of rest everyday these things happen is the manifestation of this inevitability. The wonderful part of this whole process is that I DO have many people pulling for me and showing me all kinds of love and support (Shout outs to KMAS, MK and KH).
